Three well-known Nigerian Christian clerics have passed away in 2025, leaving many believers mourning across the country.
Among them are Reverend Dr Uma Ukpai, Pastor David Ayuba Azzaman, and gospel minister Bolaji Olanrewaju, popularly called Big Bolaji.
Reverend Uma Ukpai, a respected international evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, died on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.
His family announced his passing in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, describing him as a preacher who devoted his entire life to evangelism and service to God.
For over six decades, Ukpai was known for his passionate crusades, faith-based teachings, and leadership roles in the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.
Born in 1945, he was regarded as one of Nigeria’s leading voices in Christian ministry and a mentor to many across the world. His burial arrangements are expected to be announced by his family soon.
In May, the Senior Pastor of King Worship Chapel and Ministry, Reverend David Ayuba Azzaman, died in a road accident while travelling from Makurdi, Benue State, to Kaduna.

He was 54 years old. Azzaman, known for his bold views on national issues and his support for good governance, had just finished a crusade before the tragic crash.
His death shocked many in the Christian community, especially those who admired his outspoken messages and deep commitment to spreading the gospel.
Also in April, gospel singer and Pastor, Bolaji Olanrewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji, died at the age of 50.

He was a minister with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and a well-loved figure in gospel music.
His family confirmed that he passed away after a brief illness on Easter Saturday.
Big Bolaji was celebrated for his energetic stage presence, inspirational songs, and dedication to using music as a tool to draw people closer to God.
The deaths of these three respected preachers have left a deep void in the Nigerian Christian community.
