Dr Suleiman Olanrewaju, Governor Makinde’s Chief Press Secretary, issued this statement on Sunday in Ibadan.

The governor described the death of Arase, a former Inspector-General of Police, as a massive loss to Nigeria and the nation’s security sector.

Makinde stated that the late Arase was one of the most resourceful retired IGPs, possessing experience and expertise that would continue to benefit the country.

“Retired IGP Arase’s death will leave a huge vacuum in the security sector, as he was one of the finest police officers during his active service,” he said.

Makinde added that his relationship with Arase dated back many years and that Arase’s expertise had proven helpful to Oyo State at various points.

He prayed that God would grant Arase a place in paradise and give his family and friends the strength to bear their loss.
