Gombe, Nigeria: Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state has urged Muslims to reflect on the noble character and timeless teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
The Governor, in a goodwill message on Thursday, called on the Muslim faithful to embrace and practice values such as tolerance, humility, modesty, and generosity, qualities exemplified by the Prophet throughout his life.
He encouraged the faithful to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s message of compassion, peaceful co-existence, and servant leadership, noting that these values are vital for fostering unity and building a just, inclusive society.
The Governor also called for continued prayers for peace, stability, and prosperity in Gombe State and Nigeria, describing the Maulud as a time for spiritual renewal and national solidarity.
“This celebration should deepen our faith and bring us together in prayer for unity, peace, progress, and development,” he stated.
He appealed to both leaders and citizens to remain committed to promoting peace, harmony, and community development.
Yahaya acknowledged the socio-economic challenges facing the country but urged citizens not to lose hope, assuring them of ongoing efforts to improve livelihoods through various government programmes.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace in the state, he stressed the importance of mutual respect among the different ethnic and religious groups. He pledged continued efforts to combat crime and protect lives and property.
