Jos (Nigeria): A young entrepreneur and innovator, Mr Zang Luka, has set up a recycling factory to produce power banks, phone chargers, solar lanterns, among other items in Plateau.

Luka disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Jos.

He explained that his firm, Zang Global, is designed to solve indigenous problems by recycling electronic waste to build sustainable products.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) explained that his company would not only create over 15,000 jobs across Africa, but also aim to ensure environmental sustainability.

“Zang Global is more than a technology company; we are also champions of environmental sustainability.

“As part of our mission on climate change, we have expanded into waste cable recycling, converting discarded cables into valuable copper granules.

“This innovation discourages the burning of cables, which has been a significant source of pollution and constitutes a health risk.

“Currently, we produce made-in-Nigeria USB cables, mobile phone chargers, power banks, among other accessories,” he said.

Luka explained that his company is committed to building technology solutions that would be indigenous and sustainable.

He said that 70 per cent of the raw material used by the firm for production is sourced locally, mainly from condemned electric waste.

Luka called on Nigerians to take their electric waste to his company to be recycled, rather than disposing of it anyhow, thereby causing environmental problems.

He called for the government’s support and partnership to help his company tackle its growth and success.
