Ibadan, Nigeria: The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyy Agbotomokekere, has called on residents and close allies of the newly installed Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to support his reign with sincere prayers and wise counsel.
Agbotomokekere said this in his sermon during a thanksgiving by Oba Ladoja at the Jumaat at the Ibadan Central Mosque on Friday.
The chief imam stated that the antecedents of Oba Ladoja demonstrated that he has good intentions to serve Ibadanland and the entire Yoruba land.
According to him, the new Olubadan inherited a good name from his forefathers and has also built upon it during his tenure as a senator and former governor.
Agbotomokekere charged the congregation to emulate Ladoja’s good deeds and always see themselves as shepherds in whatever positions they may find themselves, even as fathers or mothers in the family or community heads.
“Each shepherd should always know that they will account to God on the last day for the way they lead people under their care.
Among the dignitaries in the entourage of the Olubadan were Sen. Fatai Buhari, Sen. Sarafadeen Alli, Sen. Teslim Folarin, and Sen. Soji Akanbi, among others.
Ladoja held a thanksgiving service on Sunday at the Church of the Ascension, Bodija, Ibadan.
The traditional ruler reiterated his commitment to dedicate the rest of his life to serving Ibadanland and its people during the church service.
