Abuja, Nigeria: The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is joining forces with multi-talented autistic artist Tobechi Achionye, aka Kind Toby, to produce a powerful film spotlighting Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

The decision was reached by AGN and the young artist’s team during a roundtable at the guild’s National Secretariat on Saturday in Abuja.

According to them, the initiative is dedicated to raising awareness about ASD and to promoting acceptance, inclusion, and support for individuals with autism.

Enema  Rollas (MON), AGN National President, said the step aligns with the guild’s vision under his watch to embark on projects that promote inclusivity.

According to him, the project will offer an opportunity to educate the public about the challenges and strengths of those on the autism spectrum, as well as the challenges faced by their caregivers.

“We are excited to be in this collaboration, as Nollywood is not just about acting; it’s about reflecting society and inspiring change.

“Through inclusion, we give power to unseen voices and expand the creative richness of our industry.

“We are already aiming towards World Autism  Awareness Day in  2026, so we are going to come up with an excellent storyline, make a film, and premiere it on that day,” he said.

Mrs Noni Okocha, Chief Executive Officer of the “I am the Future of Nigeria Youth Initiative,” who led   Kind Toby’s delegation, said the project was apt and timely.

According to her, the project is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of individuals with autism and to advocate for greater understanding and acceptance within society.

“Tobechi’s journey is a beautiful reminder that creativity knows no bounds.

“Our mission is to ensure that young people living with autism and other disabilities are seen, supported, and celebrated in the creative world.”

“The AGN  and the I Am the Future of Nigeria Youth Initiative share a unified vision to make inclusion the new norm in Nollywood, championing empathy, access, and empowerment through film and storytelling.

“Together,  we are leading a movement that celebrates ability over disability and uses art to open hearts, change perceptions, and build a kinder, more inclusive society,” she said.

Tobechi Achionye, renowned for his creative vision, is the founder of ‘Be Kind by Toby: A vision for Change’.

The initiative promotes autism awareness, education, empowerment, and inclusivity, while advocating for creative expression in arts, fashion, and music.

A second runner-up in Autism’s Got Talent in Atlanta, Georgia, USA (2022), he continues to inspire through his artistic and musical brilliance.

Diagnosed with autism at a young age, Kind Toby has embraced his neurodiversity as a strength, using his gifts to champion a more inclusive and accepting society.

This collaboration with Nollywood actors will create awareness and open new opportunities for young talents with autism and other disabilities in the creative sector, reaffirming that every talent deserves a stage, and every story deserves to be told.
