FCT Fire Service Saves 69 Lives, ₦14bn in Property over 9 Months

Abuja (Nigeria): The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service says it saved 69 human lives and rescued Property worth N14,466,915,000 from fire incidents in the territory in January and September.

This is contained in a Fire and Rescue Statistics record made available by the FCT Service spokesperson, Ibrahim Mohammad, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Mohammad stated that 18 human lives and Property worth N6,072,214,500 were lost during the review period. Propertyng to him, the number of lives saved was 30 in March, 13 in April, 22 in June, and four in July. In contrast, January, February, May, August, and September saw no loss of life.

The record further read that March and April recorded the loss of 10 and 8 persons, respectively, while the other seven months had no lives lost.

“The Service also received 338 fire calls, with February recording the highest with 64 calls, followed by January, 59, April, 51, June, 35, March, 33, May, 31, July, 24, August, 21 and September, 20. We also recorded a total of nine rescue calls within the period.”
