Mutfwang to Deliver Keynote Lecture at Zuma Film Festival — NFC

Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State

Abuja: Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang is set to deliver the keynote lecture at the upcoming Zuma Film Festival, according to the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), highlighting the intersection of governance, culture, and creative industry as part of efforts to promote national unity and cinematic excellence in the 2025 edition of the Zuma International Film Festival (ZUFF), scheduled for December 3 in Abuja.

Mr Brian Etuk, NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, stated this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

Etuk said the annual lecture is a significant event in the film industry of the film festival, focusing on shaping narratives and conversations centred not just on the emergence, but also on the potency of film as a soft power and economic force.

He added that the previous film lecture series had enabled Nigeria to address challenges as well as capitalise on the opportunities that abound within Nigeria’s creative ecosystem.

“Mutfwang, through the topic of the lecture” From Policy to Power – The Future of Africa’s Cinematic Influence”, will not only present a historical perspective on film policy and power, but will critically evaluate current realities about cinematic influence.

“The imperatives of shift in focus from policy to implementation as well as the intentional harnessing of opportunities the film sector offers, through impact-driven transformations and creative innovations,” he said.

Dr Ali Nuhu, NFC’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, in a statement, said that the annual film lecture series, introduced in 2006, has sought to address and proffer workable solutions.

Nuhu said such solutions have aided practitioners and stakeholders’ performance and engagement, resulting in positive and impactful outcomes, as well as the growth of Nigeria’s film industry.

“The lecture series will continue to provide valuable opportunities for the NFC and the nation to address critical national creative economy challenges, “he said.
