Fayose Slams Obasanjo, Alleges Advanced Dementia

Both the Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo may have renewed their feud after the latter, on invitation, graced Fayose’s 65th birthday ceremony held in Lagos last Saturday.

Fayose, in his appreciation of OBJ’s visit via text messages, described him as someone who has lost his sanity, or at the heightened stage of dementia, suggesting that Fayose is launching this tirade as a reply to what appeared to him as an unwholesome remark from his guest during the ceremony.

In the message, Fayose was said to have written thus, “Your coming to my birthday party, I appreciate, except for your very irresponsible comments at your age. You went so low…”

“… I chose not to respond at the venue so the world would see the difference between a sane man and a mad man,” he wrote.

Fayose added that OBJ “belongs in the zoo,” asking him to return the money he had allegedly sent to facilitate his attendance at the birthday celebration.

In a brief response, Obasanjo wrote Fayose’s message only confirmed his “unchanged and unchangeable” disposition. Ayo, thanks for your ‘Thank You’ message which undisguisedly revealed who and what you are… Your money has been sent back unopened.”

OBJ, during his remark at the occasion, had wished the celebrator well, disclosing to the audience how Fayose had sent emissaries to ask for forgiveness over his past sins.

He added that Fayose sent Osita Chidoka,  a former Aviation Minister, to pacify and persuade him to accept the invitation.

According to Obasanjo, Fayose, in his appeasement, sent those mediators before eventually visiting him in Abeokuta.

He recalled that both Fayose and his wife admitted their faults during the reconciliation process, and that he had actually forgiven them, acknowledging that attaining the age of 65 was worth celebrating.

He counselled Fayose further that after forgiveness, he must also genuinely repent, advising him to mend fences with others whom he might have also offended.
