Naval Personnel Engage in Fitness Drills to Stay Combat-Ready

Makurdi: Personnel of the Nigerian Navy Provost Regulating School and Special Operations Command, Makurdi, on Saturday held their quarterly fitness exercise to stay combat-ready against the nation’s security challenges.

Commodore Mayowa Olukoya, Chief Staff Officer of the Special Operations Command, Makurdi, said the essence of the exercise was also to keep the men fit, to get to know one another, and to understand their environment.

Olukoya added that it was also meant to understand the host community better.

The commandant assured Benue and the neighbouring states that the Nigerian Navy was on their side.

“It is to make sure that everything is in place security-wise and also let them know that we are on their side.

“The exercise is a routine in the armed forces, including the Navy, and we do it quarterly.

“I am happy with the turnout that included personnel of sister services and other security agencies.

“I hope you will build on this and continue exercising regularly because it is good for your body and your health,” he said.

The route march began at the provost school and went around the major streets in Makurdi.
