Sokoto: The newly appointed Theatre Commander of Operation Fansan Yamma, Maj.-Gen. Idris Warah has restated the Nigerian Army’s determination to end banditry across the North-West.
Warah committed on Wednesday when he visited troops at the 8 Division Training School in Sokoto State and the Illela border area.
Addressing the troops during the operational visit, the theatre commander said the Army remained committed to safeguarding the country and protecting citizens from criminal elements that undermine national security.
“We have come to end all bandits. As soldiers, we are committed to safeguarding our country and all its citizens,” he said.
Warah urged the personnel to sustain their dedication to the ongoing operations, continue intensive training, and remain focused on eliminating bandit groups troubling communities in the region.
“We should continue to train, take good care of the wounded and ensure you are on the right track in eliminating those criminals,” he added.
Warah assured the troops that the Army would not relent in consolidating on its achievements but would intensify measures to tackle security challenges more effectively.
He further encouraged the soldiers to prepare their minds and remain battle-ready, emphasising that discipline, professionalism, and regimentation were key to operational success.
“Your training, discipline, and regimentation are the key to our success. We will sustain the tempo, and our operations will continue with very high intensity,” he said.The commander also appreciated the instructors at the training school and the Man-O-War personnel for their dedication, urging them to continue giving their best in shaping competent and resilient troops.
