Awka: Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, has pledged the church’s support to the Nigeria Police Force in enhancing security across Anambra State.
Ibezim pledged the assurance while receiving Mr Abayomi Oladipo, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone-13 Headquarters, Ukpo, at the Bishop’s Court in Awka on Wednesday.
The Bishop commended Oladipo’s strategic leadership, describing his efforts as vital to strengthening the zone’s security framework.
He praised the dedication of officers under the AIG’s command, appreciating the courtesy visit, while offering prayers for guidance and strength in his duties.
“We will continue to support the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring better security delivery in Anambra and across the zone,” he said.
Oladipo thanked the archbishop for the warm reception and stressed that no security framework can succeed without collaboration with critical stakeholders, including faith-based institutions.
He appealed for sustained partnership with religious bodies to curb insecurity and promote peace across the zone.
The AIG said the visit underscored the Police commitment to building strong, multi-sectoral partnerships vital for sustainable peace and security.
He noted that engagement with religious leaders aligns with the Force’s community-oriented policing strategy under Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun.
Oladipo emphasised that faith-based institutions are key allies in promoting moral values, social cohesion, and proactive crime prevention across the zone.
He added that strengthening collaboration between law enforcement and community leaders enhances trust, safety, and collective responsibility for security throughout Zone-13.
