Sunshine Stars Coach Praises Team’s Winning Mentality in 3–1 Victory over Heartland

Akure: Sunshine Stars Head Coach Olarewaju Ale hailed his players’ winning mentality in their 3–1 triumph over Heartland FC in Akure on Wednesday.

Ale told reporters that Heartland showed good tactical discipline, but he commended his players for obeying instructions and displaying resilience throughout the match.

Heartland opened the scoring in the sixth minute, taking early control before the home side settled into the game.

Sunshine Stars equalised in the 38th minute through a brilliant long-range strike by Bismarck Adeyosoye, ensuring a 1–1 scoreline at half-time.

Gabriel Adepoju put the hosts’ ahead in the 71st minute with a clever back-heel finish from Yusuf Olowoshile’s long throw.

Opeoluwa Olufemi sealed the win in the 82nd minute with a composed strike, capping an entertaining contest for the home crowd.

Ale thanked the supporters for their encouragement, saying their energy helped the team maintain focus and secure the win.

“I am just coming into the team, and I’ve not fully introduced my philosophy yet. I thank God for the victory,” he said.

He added that quick reactions had been a weakness in training, noting that the players improved noticeably during the match.

“We will maintain this winning mentality. Scoring three goals at home is very good. We will remain focused and avoid distractions,” he said.

Heartland Head Coach Emmanuel Amunike congratulated Sunshine Stars, admitting his side’s individual errors played a major role in the defeat.

Amunike assured fans that the team would correct the lapses as the season progresses and work towards stronger performances.
