NPFL: Barau FC Frustrate Nasarawa United in Lafia Stalemate

Lafia, Nasarawa State: Nasarawa United were held to a goalless draw by Barau FC of Kano in their matchday 18 fixture of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), as both sides failed to convert scoring chances at the Lafia Township Stadium.

The match played at the Lafia Township Stadium ended goalless with both teams failing to capitalise on scoring opportunities.

The Solid Miners, currently second in the league table with 32 points, had a strong home record in the 2025/2026 NPFL campaign, while Barau FC is 17th with 21 points, having struggled to hold Nasarawa United to a draw.

In a post-match interview, the Technical Adviser of Nasarawa United, Mbwas Mangut, said that it was not the result they wanted to maintain their position on the table, but unfortunately, they could not win at home.

Mangut said he expected Barau FC, which is at the bottom of the table, to put up a fight to avoid sinking further, but his boys lacked urgency, especially in the first half.

He said that his team would work hard to up their game in  subsequent matches to return to the top of the league.

Coach Ladan, the Boss of Barau FC, said they had planned to take maximum points in Lafia, but thank God they got one point.

He said the team would do its best to improve its position in the league table and finish strongly in the current season.
