Taiwo Oyedele Urges Online Civility in New Year Message

Abuja: Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Tax and Fiscal Policy Reform Committee, has urged Nigerians to exercise restraint and responsibility in their online engagements as the new year begins.

In his New Year message to online audiences, Oyedele emphasized that insults, abuse, and toxic exchanges on social media do not demonstrate strength or knowledge but instead leave a damaging digital footprint.

He noted that in today’s AI-powered environment, résumés extend beyond traditional documents to include digital activity, with algorithms increasingly shaping perceptions of judgment, temperament, and values.

“Your real CV is the digital footprint—the posts, comments, and reactions you share,” Oyedele stated, stressing that credibility and influence are earned through respectful debate and fact-based disagreement rather than personal attacks.

He advised Nigerians to be intentional about their digital presence in 2026, underscoring that constructive online behavior can open doors to opportunities and strengthen professional reputation.

The message concluded with a wish for prosperity, growth, and success in the new year.
