Abuja: The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr. Olukayode Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Mr. Mohammed Gumel, along with 16 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to key departments, commands, and formations across the country.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the postings in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, noting that the move is designed to strengthen operational capacity, provide effective leadership, enhance public safety, and improve service delivery nationwide.
In line with the directive, DIG Gumel has been assigned to head the Force Intelligence Department (FID), while CP Aina Adesola takes charge of the Delta State Command. Other deployments include CP Umar Hajedia to Kebbi, CP Iyamah Edobor to Bayelsa, CP Osagie Agans-Irabor to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit at FCID Annex, Lagos, and CP Johnson Babalola to the Special Enquiries Bureau at FCID, Abuja.
Additional postings saw CP Adepegba Adetoye to the Marine Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja; Tabitha Bako as Deputy Commandant of Police College, Kaduna; Umar Ali Fagge as Deputy Commandant of Police College, Ikeja; and Audu Bosso to General Investigation at FCID Annex, Kaduna.
Others include Edwin Ogbeghagha to Community Policing at Force Headquarters, Abuja; Arikpo Ikpi to the Investment Office, Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters; Cyril Obiozo to Maritime Command, Lagos; and Samuel Yerima as Coordinator of Courses at Police Staff College, Jos.
The list also features Alhaji Danlandi to X-Squad, FCID Annex, Kaduna; Richard Gara to the Inspectorate, Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters; Lasisi Titilola to Railway Command, Lagos; and Obuagbaka John to Safer Highway Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Hundeyin said the I-G had charged the newly deployed senior officers to bring their wealth of knowledge and experience to bear by providing purposeful, result-oriented leadership. He added that the police boss urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct, while ensuring strict adherence to the rule of law.
