Kaduna: Troops of the 1 Division Nigerian Army, Sector 1 Operation Fansan Yamma, on Tuesday foiled an armed robbery attempt along the Abuja–Kaduna highway, averting harm to commuters and restoring calm to the area.

A source within the division disclosed that the incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. near Nasarawan Doka, following a distress call. The troops immediately mobilised to the scene, engaged the criminals, and neutralised the threat.

One suspect, identified as Kabiru Zayyanu, was arrested after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. He was evacuated to Doka General Hospital for first aid treatment. Other members of the gang fled the scene, and although troops pursued them, no further contact was made.

The source confirmed that no casualties or abductions were recorded during the operation. The arrested suspect will be handed over to the relevant agencies for further investigation.

“The security situation remains calm as troops maintain a strong presence and dominate the area,” the source said, adding that the Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting lives and property.

The army also urged members of the public to report suspicious activities promptly, reiterating its determination to safeguard commuters and ensure the Abuja–Kaduna highway remains secure.
