Mass Defection Bolsters Oyo APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Iseyin, Oyo State:  The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Wednesday formally received Senator Hosea Agboola and a wave of defectors from the PDP, SDP, and ADC, marking a significant boost for the party’s grassroots strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The defectors, drawn from all 33 local government areas, were welcomed in Iseyin during the federal constituency tour of Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, and Kajola.

They were received by Senator Teslim Folarin, leader of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Oyo State, APC chairman Mr. Olayide Abas, and other party leaders.

The event featured symbolic admission ceremonies and calls for unity, with speakers framing the defections as an endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The APC remains the most credible platform for inclusive governance and sustainable national development,” Folarin declared, assuring new members of full integration and emphasizing that internal disputes had been resolved ahead of grassroots mobilisation for 2027.

Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, described the decision as “timely and courageous,” while Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (APC–Oyo North) said the defections reflected the party’s growing acceptance among the people and rising confidence in the Tinubu administration.

APC chairman Abas pledged equal rights for defectors, stressing fairness, discipline, and internal democracy. Speaking on behalf of the new members, Senator Agboola said the decision followed wide consultations and was driven by unity and alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The mobilisation train later moved to Akinyele and Lagelu constituencies to further promote unity and Tinubu’s 2027 re‑election bid. The event drew several APC chieftains, including former deputy governors, lawmakers, and party leaders.
