Gombe: The dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Gombe State House of Assembly grew even stronger on Wednesday as two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers crossed over to the ruling party.

Mr. Gabriel Fushison (Kaltungo West Constituency) and Mr. Malon Nimrod‑Yari (Shongom Constituency) were formally received into the APC by Governor Inuwa Yahaya at the Government House. They were led by Speaker Abubakar Luggerewo, Deputy Speaker Sadam Bello, and other principal officers of the Assembly.

Explaining their decision, the lawmakers praised Yahaya’s inclusive governance style, sterling leadership, and impressive performance across the state.

They noted that even while in opposition, their constituencies benefited from projects and dividends of democracy, adding that the governor’s fairness, accessibility, and commitment to equitable development inspired their move.

Welcoming them, Governor Yahaya described the defection as “a vote of confidence” in his administration and its people‑centred policies. He assured the lawmakers of equal treatment and full integration, stressing that the APC remained “a platform for unity, progress, and service.”

The governor also commended the Assembly’s leadership for its cooperation, calling it vital to peace, stability, and sustainable development in Gombe State.

With this latest defection, the APC now controls 23 of the 24 seats in the Gombe State House of Assembly — a near‑total grip that underscores the party’s sweeping influence in the state.
