Onitsha, Anambra State: Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Eagles following their emphatic 2–0 win over Algeria in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
The much‑anticipated clash at the Stade de Marrakech drew over 84,000 spectators, who witnessed Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams strike in the 47th and 57th minutes to secure Nigeria’s place in the semi-finals against host nation Morocco.
In a message posted on his official X handle, Obi described the victory as a statement of intent to the rest of Africa. “Huge congratulations to our dear Super Eagles for flying high over the Desert Warriors. Clinical finishing, a rock‑solid defence, and a rewarding gift to over 200 million people cheering you on,” he wrote.
Obi urged the team to sustain their momentum, declaring that the AFCON trophy is within reach. “Keep the fire burning. Let’s take this momentum straight into the semi-finals. Up Nigeria,” he added.
