Marrakech, Morocco: The Super Eagles soared into the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after defeating Algeria 2–0 in a thrilling quarter-final clash at the Stade de Marrakech.

Victor Osimhen was the hero once again, heading home Bruno Onyemaechi’s cross in the 47th minute before turning provider ten minutes later with a precise assist to Akor Adams, who calmly doubled Nigeria’s lead.

Algeria pressed late but found no way past Nigeria’s disciplined defence, marshalled by goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

The victory marks Nigeria’s 16th semi-final appearance at the AFCON, setting up a blockbuster showdown against hosts Morocco in Rabat.

Nigeria’s triumph drew praise from billionaire industrialist and philanthropist Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, founder of BUA Group.

In a congratulatory message, Rabiu pledged a performance-linked reward to further inspire the Eagles. He promised $500,000 if Nigeria defeats Morocco in the semi-final, with an additional $50,000 for every goal scored in that match.

Should the team go on to win the final, Rabiu pledged $1,000,000 plus $100,000 for each goal scored.

Rabiu’s gesture highlights the powerful intersection of business leadership and national pride, reinforcing football’s role as a unifying force across Nigeria.

With Osimhen in blistering form and Rabiu’s pledge adding extra motivation, the Super Eagles march into Rabat carrying the hopes of millions of Nigerians and the promise of history.
