Ile‑Ife, Osun State — The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ife Branch, on Sunday, celebrated indigenes of Ife and honoured outstanding legal professionals with awards.

In his welcome address, Prof. Sola Olawoyin, SAN, who hosted the NBA, said the gathering was an opportunity for lawyers from Ife and beyond to network and rally round to boost their profession and the overall success of Osun State.

The Coordinator of Lawyers, Prof. Abiola Sanni, SAN, who doubles as the Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, thanked God for the large turnout of the members and appreciated the host.

Sanni charged more Ife lawyers to come on board, stressing that the gathering was not meant for wine-and-dining alone but a platform for productive socialisation.

“The gathering is not for consulting and socialising only, but to network among ourselves; to honour, recognise, mentor each other and to learn from senior advocates,” he said.

The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Olalere Olaobaju, stated that the programme annually recognised the great achievements of Ife lawyers worthy of celebration.

Olaobaju explained that the forum also paved the way for indigene lawyers to see themselves and to discuss issues pertaining to the profession and the town at large.

He said a few members were recognised for attaining the status of professors, PhD, and deans of law faculties, among others.

“This will energise the incoming generations to work harder, move forward and attain the highest levels in the profession,” he said.Among the awardees were retired Justice Olukayode Jimi-Bada (PCA), Sola Ojutalayo (SAN), Omiwole Jimi-Bada (SAN), Olanrewaju Tesleem Akinsola (Onigegewura) as SAN and Bencher, Prof. Dorcas Adenaike, and Dr Titilayo Onifade.
