FAAN Secures Dual ISO Certifications

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has successfully achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Quality Management System and ISO 14001:2015 certification for its Environmental Management System.

FAAN announced this in a statement on Monday in Lagos.

According to the authority, ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard that demonstrates an organisation has strong systems in place to consistently deliver quality services, meet customer expectations, and continuously improve its operations.

ISO 14001:2015 confirms responsible environmental management by reducing waste, following environmental laws, and supporting sustainability.

According to the statement, the certifications represent a significant milestone for the authority under the leadership of Mrs Olubunmi Kuku as Managing Director.

The certificates crown months of dedicated effort, rigorous internal auditing, and organizational improvements.

FAAN revealed that the certificates were granted by MSECB, Canada, and the dual certifications confirmed that FAAN’s operational and environmental management systems now met globally recognised standards.

MSECB is a Canadian body that audits and certifies organisations to international standards such as ISO.

It is headquartered in Laval, Quebec, Canada, and operates globally. These certifications place the Nigerian airport authority among modern, competitive, and forward-looking airport organizations worldwide.e.

The statement praised Kuku for her commitment to airport development and human capacity building, and for her strong focus on institutional reform, accountability, and performance excellence, which have distinguished her.

Both certificates boost FAAN’s credibility with airlines, partners, regulators, and the public, positioning Nigeria’s airports as competitive global hubs.

It noted that the challenge would be to sustain and deepen these standards through continuous audits, skills development, environmental innovation, and customer-focused reforms.

FAAN noted that the certifications crowned a long and deliberate transformation, anchored on the successful implementation of an Integrated Management System, meaning a coordinated approach that links and manages all of the authority’s processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

It said this system harmonised operations, strengthened internal controls—organized checks and procedures to ensure accuracy and prevent errors—and institutionalised a culture of continuous improvement across the authority.

The statement declared that the authority has moved decisively beyond reactive management to proactive, standards-driven governance.
