National Grid Fully Restored as Power Supply Normalizes — NISO

Abuja: The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced that the national grid has been fully restored, with electricity supply returning to normal across the country.

The recovery follows recent disruptions that left parts of Nigeria without power. NISO confirmed on Tuesday that the grid is now operating at full capacity, assuring citizens and businesses of improved stability.

Officials noted that the swift intervention highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure and minimize the impact of system disturbances. The announcement is expected to reassure households and industries that rely heavily on consistent power for productivity and growth.

According to NISO, the voltage disturbance rapidly spread across the network, affecting Jebba, Kainji, and the Ayede transmission substation. The incident caused some transmission lines and generating units to trip, resulting in a partial system collapse.

Corrective actions were immediately implemented to stabilize the system, with restoration beginning at about 11:11 a.m. and completed shortly thereafter.

NISO clarified that the incident affected only part of the grid, not a total collapse as reported by some media outlets.

Additional details, the operator added, are available on its website at www.niso.org.ng.
