Ilorin: Pastor Dare Thomas of Christ Life Church has cautioned teenagers to protect their pride and dignity on Valentine’s Day, stressing the importance of understanding the occasion’s true meaning.
Thomas gave the advice in Ilorin on Friday. He warned that teenage girls, in particular, should be careful not to compromise their self-esteem while celebrating the day.
“Feb. 14 is not for fornication as believed by most youths. Stop exchanging your body for Valentine’s gifts.
“Don’t present yourself cheaply for gifts,” he said.
Thomas emphasised that Valentine’s Day is about expressing genuine love and respect, not immorality.
Valentine’s Day is known as a day of love. You can share gifts and celebrate without committing any immoral act.
“Don’t lose your dignity during Valentine’s,” he cautioned.
He urged young people to celebrate modestly and avoid abusing the occasion.
Thomas concluded by urging parents to guide their children and ensure teenagers celebrate Valentine’s Day responsibly, emphasising the lifelong impact of their actions.
