The last three winners of the European Golden Shoe – superstar names from Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid – have made sensational starts to the 2025-26 campaign. But who else is up there for goals scored?
We’re now into an era in which Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo dominating the European goalscoring charts is becoming a distant memory, but some pretty special players have emerged to fill their boots.
Without further ado, here’s the top 10 goal scorers across Europe’s five major leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1) this season so far. Keep checking back, as we’ll keep this one updated throughout the campaign.
Note: if two players are tied on goals, we’ve ordered them by their goals-per-minute ratio.
10. Joaquin Panichelli – 13 Goals
Argentinian forward Panichelli scored 20 goals for Mirandes in the Spanish Segunda Division and has since been signed by Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
With Liam Rosenior formelry in the dugout, Panichelli made a bright start at his new club and has become one of this season’s biggest emerging talents. One to watch for Argentina’s World Cup squad next summer.
9. Luis Diaz – 13 Goals
Diaz seems like the exact kind of player Liverpool could do with this year, but Bayern are enjoying having him in their ranks.
As well as the 10 Bundesliga assists he has registered, the Colombian has 13 goals in 22 games this year. That figure has already equalled his best tally in a season at Liverpool.
8. Deniz Undav – 13 Goals
Stepping in to replace Nick Woltemade, Stuttgart have found joy with striker Deniz Undav.
The German has scored 13 goals in 19 games this season, giving him the fourth-best ratio of any player in the top 10.
7. Lautaro Martinez – 14 Goals
Inter Milan striker Martinez’s slow start might have had his side worried, but he’s come into his own of late.
In his first 10 games this season, the Argentine had just three Serie A goals, but in the next seven, he found the net seven times to climb to the top of the Italian top flight’s scoring list for this campaign.
He is currently on 14 from 25 games.
6. Mason Greenwood – 14 Goals
Greenwood is sixth in this list, having notched 14 goals in 22 appearances for Marseille this season.
5. Vedat Muriqi – 16 Goals
Mallorca find themselves embroiled in a La Liga relegation battle, having managed just four wins from 18 all season.
But they might just have the edge over their rivals in the form of a reliable goalscorer.
Kosovo international Muriqi is relatively proven in Spain, but he’s already notched more goals than he managed in each of the last two campaigns with Mallorca.
4. Igor Thiago – 17 Goals
It’s none of the usual suspects chasing down Haaland at the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts.
There are numerous star Premier League strikers whose statistics pale in comparison to Thiago’s this season.
The breakout star of 2025-26 is pushing for a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad next summer and has already had the best-ever Premier League goalscoring campaign by a Brazilian.
3. Erling Haaland – 22 Goals
A third Premier League Golden Boot in four years appears all but a formality for the Norwegian goalscoring machine at this point.
He reached his century of Premier League goals in record time, and the gap from his 22 goals to the next most in the Premier League this season is five.
2. Kylian Mbappe – 23 Goals
Mbappe looks hell-bent on sealing his status as the best player in world football in the post-Messi and Ronaldo era.
The World Cup winner’s first season at Madrid was disappointingly lacking in silverware, but he did claim his first-ever European Golden Shoe.
This season, he has a 1:1 ratio, having scored 23 goals in 23 games.
1. Harry Kane – 28 Goals
Kane took an early lead and is still way ahead of the others.
After 23 games, the Englishman is on 19 goals, scoring more than a goal a game. In fact, he has scored in almost every game, only missing out in five so far.
Kane has three Bundesliga hat-tricks to his name this season – one of them came in just 30 minutes – and has scored a brace in his last three games.
