Police Recruitment: 9,975 Applicants Compete for C/River Slot

ASP Sunday Eitokpah, spokesperson of the Cross River Police Command, says 9,975 applicants have applied for the state’s available slots in the current Force recruitment.

Eitokpah made the disclosure in an interview with journalists in Calabar on Tuesday.

He explained that the available slots for Cross River would be distributed equally across the state’s 18 local government areas.

He assured prospective applicants that the exercise would be merit-based.

“The exercise commenced on Monday with physical and credential screening meant for applicants who successfully completed their online registration,” he said.

Eitokpah further said that the 2025/2026 recruitment exercise was for General Duty and Specialist Police Constable positions in the Nigeria Police Force.

“The Command reiterates that the recruitment screening process is completely free of charge and will be conducted strictly on merit, in line with the highest standards of professionalism, transparency and accountability.

“Members of the public are encouraged to report any individual or group demanding gratification or inducement in connection with the exercise,” he stated.

The 2025/2026 recruitment exercise is to recruit 50,000 personnel into the Force.
