Sultan Leads Nationwide Prayers as President Tinubu Marks 74th Birthday

Abuja: On Sunday, special prayers were offered nationwide to mark President Bola Tinubu’s 74th birthday. In the capital, the Sultan of Sokoto—represented by Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar—led the national prayer session.

Traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, and political leaders from across Nigeria attended the prayer session held at the National Mosque in Abuja.

In addition to these gatherings, in a statement from Abuja, Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said President Tinubu attended the prayers and later observed the Asr prayer.

During the prayers, supplications were offered, asking Allah to grant the President guidance, wisdom, good health, and strength in his leadership of Nigeria.

Governors, ministers, politicians, and worshippers assembled at the mosque, their prayers for peace, unity, and national development echoing throughout Nigeria. This gathering underscored the event’s collective intent.

Etsu Nupe said, “This is a solemn spiritual exercise, not a celebration,” adding that prayers for peace, unity, and national progress must continue.

Continuing this theme of unity, in the atmosphere of reflection, the Emir of Keffi, Chindo Yamusa, recognised Tinubu’s economic reforms and state support, noting that salary and infrastructure interventions have had positive effects in Nasarawa State.

Islamic scholars from multiple sects across Nigeria offered prayers for the President’s well-being, national stability, and continued unity of the country.

Over 300 scholars, demonstrating their dedication, recited the Holy Qur’an 111 times. They also made extensive supplications, all for Nigeria’s progress, peace, and enduring stability.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin conveyed the President’s appreciation, expressing thanks to religious leaders and attendees for their prayers and goodwill messages.

Expressing his commitment to national unity and development, President Tinubu urged Nigerians to continue praying for the administration.

The gathering concluded with Prof. Ibrahim Maqari, the senior Imam at the National Mosque, offering prayers for lasting peace, prosperity, and stability across Nigeria.

Meanwhile, a separate Arewa Think Tank prayer session held in Kaduna also marked Tinubu’s birthday, drawing prominent attendees and leaders.

Among attendees were former Kaduna State Governor, Muktar Yero, Sen. Tijjani Tafida, Emir of Wase, Mohammed Haruna, and labour leader Issa Aremu.
