Bridge, Roads, and Dual-Carriageway Also Commissioned in Infrastructure Blitz
Yenagoa: President Bola Tinubu on Friday commissioned a 60-megawatt gas turbine plant in Elebele, Bayelsa—the state’s largest power investment to date—and pledged electricity for all Nigerians.
He also inaugurated projects by the Governor Douye Diri administration: the 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma Bridge for connectivity, the Sagbama/Ekeremor Road for regional access, and the 2.9km Dual-Carriageway in Yenagoa to improve urban transport.
Following the inauguration, at a stakeholder meeting at Bayelsa Government House, Tinubu commended Diri for the independent power project.
Bayelsa people deserve to see governance drive real development and better living standards, he added.
“We are all working hard. Independent power supply is a good thing. I assure Nigerians that they will have electricity to power their growth,” he said.
He urged more people-oriented projects and pledged Federal Government support for greater state results.
Diri thanked the president for visiting, calling him a friend of Bayelsa. “We appreciate your time in inaugurating these projects,” he said.
“Your administration’s policies have enabled meaningful reforms, including in power,” he said.
“This allowed us to deliver a reliable, independent energy source through these gas-powered turbines.”
The visit also attracted notable personalities, including former President Goodluck Jonathan.
