NCS Intercepts Smuggled Donkey Skins, Fuel Valued at ₦98.3m in Adamawa

Yola: The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 509 pieces of raw donkey skin, 460kg of dried donkey meat, and 4,250 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) valued at N98.3 million in Adamawa and Taraba States.

Mr Muhammad Tako, Area Comptroller in charge of the Adamawa and Taraba Command, disclosed this during a press briefing on Wednesday in Yola.

He said the seizures were made within six weeks to curb smuggling and protect the Nigerian economy.

Tako specified that other seized items include 43 large sacks of secondhand clothing, five cartons of Viagra 200mg tablets, and 12 additional packages containing Viagra 200mg.

“Other items listed above were seized with an aggregate Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N98.3 million.

“These seizures are in line with relevant sections of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023,” he said.

He also noted they fall under the Export Prohibition List of the Common External Tariff (CET).

He further encouraged smugglers to embrace legitimate business.

He added that the NCS was committed to facilitating trade and cracking down on smuggling cartels within the law for national development.

Tako also appreciated the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr Bashir Adeniyi, and the management team for visionary leadership.
