Abuja: INEC has concluded the second phase of nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), recording 3,748,704 completed registrations.
Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs Victoria Eta-Messi, in the commission’s weekly update for week 14, released in Abuja, said that phase II of the exercise was concluded on Friday, April 17.
Eta-Messi explained that the figure includes both online pre-registrations and in-person completions at designated centres nationwide, demonstrating sustained public participation in the voter registration process before the 2027 General Election.
“Of the total, 2,259,288 Nigerians registered online, while 1,489,416 completed registration in person,” she said.
Eta-Messi stated that the commission considers the figures preliminary and will verify them further.
She added that, now that the registration phase has ended, INEC will shift its focus to displaying the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections, a critical stage that ensures the accuracy and credibility of the voter register.
She said the display exercise would take place at designated centres nationwide from April 29 to May 5, providing citizens with an opportunity to verify their details and raise objections where necessary.
Eta-Messi urged all Nigerians who registered during the second phase to confirm their information and help identify ineligible entries, including duplicate registrations, deceased persons, and non-citizens.
The CVR exercise proceeds in phases. The first phase began on Aug. 18, 2025, and ended on Dec. 10, 2025, while the second phase ran from Jan. 5 to April 27.
She said INEC will announce the date for the commencement of the third phase in due course.
Eta-Messi reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to a clean and credible voter register, which, according to her, remained central to the conduct of free, fair, and transparent elections.
