JAMB Delays Results for Underage Candidates Due to Eligibility Rules

Abuja:  The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) explained that seeing “No Result Yet” on your Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) page means you are not old enough to apply.

JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja that the message is not a system error. Instead, it is meant to show the eligibility rules.

Benjamin said that only candidates who will be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, can take the UTME, except in rare situations.

He added that underage candidates might still be considered if they show exceptional academic ability.

For underage candidates to qualify, they must score at least 320 in the UTME and get 80 percent or higher in later screening exercises.

Those who meet these requirements will be shortlisted and invited to the next stage.

Benjamin also said that this arrangement was made with the parents’ agreement.
