The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced a decisive breakthrough in the fight against insecurity, confirming that Nigerian troops neutralised 31 terrorists and rescued several kidnapped victims during nationwide operations conducted between April 17 and 23.

According to the DHQ, the coordinated missions spanned multiple theatres of operation:

North‑East: Troops foiled attacks along the Maiduguri–Damaturu axis, eliminating insurgents and rescuing nine captives who had fled from the Mandara Mountains. Logistics suppliers attempting to smuggle fuel disguised in sachet water bags to terrorists were intercepted.

North‑West: Clearance operations in Kaduna and Zamfara dismantled terrorist camps, freed victims, and intercepted couriers carrying explosive materials.

North‑Central: Hideouts were destroyed, suspects arrested, and weapons seized in ongoing efforts to disrupt bandit networks.

South‑East: Security forces arrested criminal elements linked to violent attacks, reinforcing stability in the region.

The DHQ stressed that these operations reflect the military’s determination to restore peace and protect citizens across Nigeria. The Chief of Defence Staff commended the troops’ resilience and professionalism, assuring Nigerians that the armed forces remain committed to dismantling terror networks and safeguarding communities.
