FG Reaffirms Drive to Cut Poverty, Boost Livelihoods

Kano: The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to reducing poverty and creating opportunities to enhance Nigerians’ livelihoods, especially in rural communities.

The National Programme Manager of the Renewed Hope Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (RH-GEEP) 3.0 FarmerMoni for dry and wet seasons, Hamza Ibrahim-Baba, said this on Sunday in Kano at a media sensitisation for the North-West zone.

He said the programme was part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at empowering micro and small enterprises across the country.

“GEEP 3.0 is designed to reach underserved communities and stimulate economic growth from the grassroots.

“Our goal is to support Nigerians at the bottom of the economic pyramid, improve their livelihoods, and create opportunities for sustainable income,” he said.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Kano Social Protection Agency, Fatima Abubakar-Abdullahi, said the initiative was targeted at empowering vulnerable groups, especially those in rural areas.

She explained that the programme would offer interest-free loans and training to rural farmers and small-scale traders, helping them access financial resources and improve their skills.

Abubakar-Abdullahi stressed the need for increased awareness, noting that many eligible beneficiaries were yet to fully understand how to access the scheme.

“Sensitisation like this is critical. When people understand how the programme works, participation increases, and the impact becomes more meaningful.

By ensuring that more Nigerians are informed and engaged, we can collectively drive progress and expand the reach of our poverty reduction efforts,” she said.
