Bandits Slaughter 11 in Katsina Village Raid

Katsina: Gunmen stormed Gurbi Village in Kankara, killing 11 residents in a daylight attack that has left the community reeling.

Additionally, Police spokesman DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu disclosed in a statement issued in Katsina on Monday that two others were injured during the incident.

He said the attackers struck at about 2:40 p.m. Sunday, shooting residents and killing victims instantly.

“The assailants fled as security forces approached,” Sadiq-Aliyu said.

He confirmed that a joint security team, including police, the military, and other agencies, responded swiftly to a distress call, forcing the attackers to retreat.

“The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment, while the deceased were buried according to Islamic rites,” he added. In response to the attack, the command reinforced security in the area, deploying additional tactical teams to prevent further incidents. In line with these security measures, Sadiq-Aliyu said the command had also ordered intensified patrols and closer collaboration between security agencies and local communities.

Efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators of the attack. Sadiq-Aliyu urged residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious movements to authorities.
