Police Nab Suspected Bandit Informant in Katsina

Katsina: Police in Katsina have apprehended a suspected informant accused of aiding notorious bandit groups operating in the region, intensifying efforts to curb rising insecurity in the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Katsina.

He said police, acting on credible intelligence from Musawa Divisional Police Headquarters, apprehended the suspect. The suspect was identified as Abdullahi Abdullahi.

Sadiq-Aliyu said the suspect confessed during interrogation. He collaborated with his brother in criminal activities, including issuing threats to victims.

“We called a victim and demanded the sum of N10 million, or we would kill him,” the suspect reportedly admitted.

The spokesperson added that the suspect also confessed to involvement in similar crimes in the past.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Ali-Fage, ordered intensified efforts. Police will track and arrest other suspects linked to the case.

Ali-Fage reiterated that the Command is committed to addressing banditry and said that those found assisting criminal activities would face appropriate measures.

The CP urged residents to stay alert and immediately report any suspicious activity or movement to the nearest police station to aid ongoing investigations.
