Lagos — Assistant Inspector‑General of Police Simeon Akpanudom, in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex Lagos, has banned Point of Sale (POS) operations within the premises.
The directive, announced Thursday, is aimed at restoring discipline and curbing unregulated financial activities inside the facility. Akpanudom stressed that the FCID Annex is a security and investigative environment, not a marketplace, and warned that officers found flouting the order would face sanctions.
The ban comes amid growing concerns about the misuse of POS terminals around police formations nationwide, with reports of extortion and unauthorised transactions. The AIG’s move signals a push to tighten internal controls and reinforce professional standards within the department.
