The commission disclosed these figures in a Factsheet report shared on its X handle in Abuja, highlighting the growing momentum in metering.

According to the report, 119,792 customers were metered in January, while 121,798 were metered in February, resulting in metering rates of 57.93 per cent and 58.57 per cent, respectively.

Cumulatively, the report said the total number of new customers metered grew from 7.1 million in January to 7.2 million in February.

The report also noted that the total number of active electricity customers rose from over 12.2 million in January to over 12.3 million in February, reflecting continued growth in both metering and the customer base.

The report highlighted a metering rate improvement by Port Harcourt DisCo, from 65.47 per cent to 66.36 per cent, along with steady gains from Abuja, Eko, Ikeja, and Ibadan.

Eko and Ikeja DisCos remain the top performers in the region, both achieving metering rates above 84 per cent.

The Factsheet highlighted Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola DisCos as regions with metering rates below 50%.

The report concluded that while DisCos will continue metering new customers, an accelerated rollout is essential to close the metering gap.
