The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested 13 suspected drug peddlers in coordinated raids across five Local Government Areas.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued in Dutse on Sunday. He explained that the operation followed credible intelligence reports and targeted criminal hideouts and black spots across the state.
Crack teams from the Dutse, Guri, Birnin Kudu, Bamaina, Babura, and Roni divisions carried out the raids, leading to the arrest of suspects aged 18 to 40 from Jigawa and Nguru in neighbouring Yobe State.
Recovered items included: 704 pieces of Exol; 264 Tramadol tablets; 2,042 D5 tablets; 48 rubber solutions; 148 wraps; four blocks of Indian hemp; a stolen Vivo mobile phone; 602 capsules; and six litres of unidentified liquid substances.
Shiisu noted that the suspects have been charged in court after discreet investigations.
Commissioner of Police, Mr Dahiru Muhammad, reiterated the command’s commitment to keeping Jigawa safe, warning criminals to desist or face consequences. He urged residents to continue providing credible information to aid police efforts.
“The Command assures residents of its dedication to sustaining peace, safety, and security across all communities,” Shiisu added.
