Security Chiefs Dismiss Bandit Rumours, Tighten Measures in Iragbiji

Osun State officials moved fast to ease worries after rumors of bandit attacks spread through Boripe, Ifelodun, and Odo Otin Local Government Areas on Tuesday, June 2.

A security meeting took place in Iragbiji on Wednesday, June 3. It brought together the Nigeria Police, Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services (DSS), local vigilantes, the Boripe Local Government Chairman, and the Aragbiji-in-Council.

HRM Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, led the meeting.

After reviewing the situation, the council said the reports of bandit attacks were false. Residents were advised to ignore these rumors, as they could disrupt peace in the area.

Security agencies said their officers are staying alert and patrolling Iragbiji and nearby areas to keep people and property safe.

Parents were told it is safe for children to return to school, and school owners were encouraged to resume normal classes without worry.

The message also asked residents to report anything suspicious to the police or the palace. Landlords were advised to screen new tenants carefully.

Scrap metal collectors, known as bolars, are no longer allowed to work in Iragbiji, and anyone caught will be handed over to the police.

Oba Olabomi stressed the importance of cooperation between the community and law enforcement, assuring residents that Iragbiji’s security remains strong and alert.

This quick response shows the authorities’ commitment to stability and helps build citizens’ confidence as security operations continue in Osun State.
