Abuja: The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has praised international partners for their vital role in enhancing Nigeria’s global trade ties and diplomatic relations.
NCS’s Comptroller-General (C-G) , Adewale Adeniyi, expressed appreciation to the partners at a high-level diplomatic reception organised by the service in Abuja.
The event was a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening international cooperation, trade relations and institutional partnerships.
A statement on the event was made available to newsmen by the service’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Maiwada, on Thursday in Abuja.
In the statement, the C-G described diplomatic relations as crucial to the service’s operations and reiterated the NCS’s commitment to supporting diplomatic missions in Nigeria.
“The service remains committed to providing the support and services required for diplomatic missions to operate effectively in Nigeria,” he said.
He said the NCS had continued to deepen its global footprint through structured collaboration frameworks with more than 20 customs administrations worldwide.
He added that the collaborations focused on knowledge exchange, capacity development and operational synergy aimed at improving trade facilitation and border management.
According to him, sustained collaboration among customs administrations, diplomatic missions, and security agencies remains critical to achieving efficient border security, enhanced revenue generation and improved economic competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global trade environment.
Adeniyi emphasised that modern customs administration now operates within a highly interconnected global system.
He said the system required continuous engagement, trust-building and shared responsibility among international partners to address emerging challenges in trade, security and compliance management.
He added that the reception provided valuable opportunities for dialogue, relationship-building, and the exploration of new areas of cooperation to further strengthen Nigeria’s trade and diplomatic architecture.
The event’s diplomatic partners included ambassadors, high commissioners, heads of mission, and senior government officials.
Guests, including senior government officials and diplomatic representatives, commended the NCS for its consistent efforts to foster stronger institutional ties and promote an enabling environment for international collaboration.
