Lagos: The Akinjide Adeosun Foundation (AAF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), on Tuesday inaugurated its Food Bank – SDG 2 – Zero Hunger to assist in addressing the problem of hunger in Lagos.
The Founder of the foundation, Mr Akinjide Adeosun, unveiled the project to mark his 57th birthday during a thanksgiving service tagged: “Thanksgiving in Freedom” at the All Souls Anglican Church, Lagos.
The Officiating Pastor, Ven. John Agboro said that thanksgiving to God for Christians should be a natural and spontaneous response to all the goodness of God.
Citing different quotations in the Bible, Agboro described occasions of birthdays as times to reflect on the depth of God’s love and grace and to live out that grace in thankfulness and service to others.
According to him, the freedom we enjoy from God is both spiritual and physical, saying that Christ set us free from the captivity of Satan and the dominion of sin.
“There are so many things we take for granted that we should be grateful for daily. All the wonderful things God has done. The freedom of life we live.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
“I thank God for your plans to feed the hungry through your Food Bank SDG 2 – Zero Hunger programme that will be inaugurated today.
“The best response and gratitude for God’s goodness is to be a blessing to humanity,” he said.
