Maiduguri: The Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) has announced that its troops killed 438 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists during operations conducted between May and December.
Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of OPHK, disclosed the figures at a Christmas luncheon in Maiduguri. He said the coordinated operations also led to the recovery of 254 assorted weapons, 300 units of Starlink communication devices, and the rescue of 366 civilians from terrorist enclaves.
Abubakar added that 881 fighters from Boko Haram and ISWAP, along with their families, surrendered during the period, underscoring what he described as “significant progress” in the fight against insurgency.
He noted that the successes recorded were linked to the Chief of Army Staff’s interventions and assured that troops remain committed to sustaining the tempo of operations as the dry-season campaign continues.
