NiMet Warns of 3‑Day Haze across Nigeria

‎Abuja:  The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze from Saturday to Monday across the nation.

On Saturday, moderate dust haze with visibility between two and five kilometres is expected in the northern region, with localised visibility of 1,000 metres or less in parts of Katsina, Kano, and Jigawa. 

The North-Central region will also experience moderate dust haze. The southern region will see sunny skies with a few clouds, with a slim chance of afternoon or evening thunderstorms and light rainfall over Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.

It envisaged localised visibility of less than or equal to 1,000 metres over parts of Katsina, Kano and Jigawa States throughout the forecast period.

The agency also forecast moderate dust haze over the North-Central region throughout the period.

It predicted sunny skies with a few patches of cloud over the southern region, with slim prospects of afternoon or evening thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall over parts of Lagos, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.

On Sunday, moderate dust haze will persist in the northern and North-Central regions. The southern region will have sunny skies with scattered clouds, with a slim chance of isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall over Ondo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, and Edo States later in the day.

“Dust particles will remain suspended. All individuals, especially those with asthma or respiratory issues, must take immediate precautions during these weather conditions.
