The University of Jos will resume first-semester examinations on April 13 after suspending them due to a security breach in the city.
Mr Emmanuel Madugu, the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations of the university, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Jos.
The university had suspended its ongoing examination following the attack by gunmen on the Angwa Rukuba community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau.
The attack, which occurred Sunday night, claimed some lives and left others severely injured.
According to Madugu, the decision to continue the examination followed a management meeting held on April 3.
“The university management, during its meeting held on April 3, considered the effects of the heightened tensions and threat to the lives and safety of students during the week.
“These threats had made the management allow students to travel home for the extended Easter holidays.
“All examinations will now resume on Monday, April 13, starting with those postponed from March 30 due to the recent suspension.”
“For further clarification on this, students are advised to contact the examinations timetable officer in their respective faculties,” he said
Madugu also stated that while academic activities at the university would resume on Tuesday, April 7, examinations would resume on April 13.
He added that management had made adequate arrangements for the safety of the university’s staff and students.
