JAMB Axes 23 Exams Centres, Permanently Bans One over 2026 UTME Failures

by Kehinde Adegoke

Abuja: JAMB has delisted 23 CBT centres nationwide for technical deficiencies during the 2026 Mock UTME, the board announced in Abuja.

JAMB said this in a statement by its media adviser, Dr Fabian Benjamin, on Friday in Abuja.

Benjamin said that some centres with small problems were warned, and one in Lagos State was banned from future exams.

He explained that the mock UTME helps students get used to the computer format and helps JAMB check if exam centres are ready.

He added that after checking the test results, JAMB found that some centres did not meet the required standards.

The practice test lets the board check the centres, identify problems, and ensure only good centres run the real UTME.

Benjamin said the centres were punished because JAMB wants exams to be fair and run smoothly in all places.

He told students waiting for the real UTME not to worry. He said changes will be made so everyone can write the exam.

He also said that centres given a warning must fix their problems now or they will face further punishment.

He also reiterated that the board will not allow technical issues that could disrupt exams and promised better monitoring of the main UTME.

He advised candidates to continue printing their examination notification slips to confirm their examination dates, venues and time.
