The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 20‑year‑old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, found lifeless in his Emure‑Ile residence. Authorities say preliminary findings point to a suspected suicide, with investigations underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The deceased, Audi Emmanuel, who was a student of Computer Engineering in the institution, was said to have hung himself.
The incident occurred along Awolowo Road, Emure Ile-Owo, beside the Amotekun Office.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s Spokesperson, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Akure.
Jimoh said police operatives promptly visited the scene, respectfully recovered the body, and ensured it was deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
“Preliminary observations suggest a case of suicide; however, a thorough investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The command extends heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and encourages members of the public to seek support and reach out during times of emotional distress, reassuring them that help and understanding are always available,” he said.
