Abuja: President Bola Tinubu says criminal hideouts are disappearing in Abuja as social life gradually returns to the Federal Capital Territory.
Tinubu spoke on Friday during the inauguration of Collector Road CN2 in Katampe District, Abuja. He was represented at the ceremony by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The President said the transformation was the result of good governance that had delivered security, mobility and dignity to residents.
He praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for working to restore Abuja’s status as a true capital city.
“My fellow residents of Abuja, we did not stop at the road. We installed solar streetlights. Today, Katampe is safer at night. Abuja’s real life is coming back. Criminal hideouts are disappearing,” he said.
Tinubu said the project demonstrated what effective governance could achieve for citizens. He noted that the road connects the Katampe and Mabushi districts to major road networks.
According to him, the project reflects his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda for national development.
“Indeed, this road is a testament to the Renewed Hope Agenda. Nigeria is working again,” he said.
Tinubu said the infrastructure would ease travel difficulties caused by congestion, dust and poor road conditions.
“A road like CN2 is more than concrete. It is hope,” he added.
He also praised Wike’s commitment, saying the minister had continued to deliver on his mandate in Abuja.
“Wike, you have not disappointed Nigerians. From abandoned roads to new boulevards,” he said.
The President commended the minister’s work on roads, water projects and judicial infrastructure across the FCT.
“You do not give excuses. You give results. The people of the FCT call you Mr Project,” Tinubu said.
He described Wike’s performance as proof of commitment to rebuilding the nation’s capital.
