Veteran Yoruba actor Fesogboye Oyewole has passed away at the age of 68, with the news of his death confirmed by his family.
The news of his passing first appeared on Facebook, where fellow actor and comedian Mr Latin shared it publicly on May 29, 2026.
Shortly after, Oyewole’s family released an official statement confirming his death. In their tribute, they called him a cherished father, grandfather, husband, brother, and uncle, thanked Allah for his life, and prayed for his eternal rest.
The family’s statement read in part: “With complete submission to the will of Allah (SWT), we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother and uncle, Comrade Baniyamin Fesogboye Oyewole, who returned to his Creator on Friday, 29th May, 2026.
We thank Allah for the life He granted him and pray that He forgives his shortcomings, expands his grave, illuminates it with His mercy, and grants him Al‑Jannah Firdaus.”
The family said his burial will be held at his home in Oke Orogbo, Lalupon, Ibadan, Oyo State. His passing, which comes only days after actor Patrick Okoye died, has added to the sadness in the industry.
Oyewole was highly respected in Yoruba cinema and was known for his talent and dedication to storytelling.
Colleagues and fans from across Nigeria have shared tributes, honoring his legacy and expressing their sadness at his loss.
