Expands Nationwide Support to 128,930 Smallholders
Abuja: The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has begun distributing 100,800 bags of fertiliser to 25,200 smallholder farmers across Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi and Jigawa States.
NADF Executive Secretary, Mohammed Ibrahim, said in a statement that the intervention is part of the Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme (FISP), designed to cut production costs, improve access to quality inputs and boost food production under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Each farmer will receive four fully subsidised bags of fertiliser, while each participating state is allocated 20,160 bags for 5,040 beneficiaries. Farmers were identified through state governments and the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) to ensure transparent distribution.
Ibrahim explained that the North‑West initiative is part of a nationwide programme targeting 128,930 smallholder farmers with 515,720 bags of fertiliser. He added that NADF will deploy over 1,800 extension advisory workers nationwide to provide technical support and best‑practice guidance.
The Fund is also assisting more than 5,000 ginger farmers affected by blight in Kaduna and supporting flood‑hit onion farmers in Kebbi and Sokoto States. Ibrahim stressed that these interventions highlight the Federal Government’s commitment to boosting agricultural productivity, creating jobs and strengthening food security nationwide.
